About the Rurek Control Valve

About the Rurek Control Valve

General:

  1. The RUREK control valve is a single seat globe valve featuring a solid non-metallic, machined body. This construction, which incorporates a push down to close valve plug action, and trims with accurate linear or equal percentage flow characteristics, is designed to handle most of the highly corrosive and toxic fluids. Within its temperature ranges, the RUREK control valve has a virtually bubble-tight shutoff while handling fluids with up to 150 PSIG inlet pressure.

Various valve sizes, full size and restricted capacity trims, optional body and trim materials and compatibility with Fisher Controls actuators and accessories, make the RUREK control valves the prime choice for applications where "tough to handle" corrosive fluids are to be controlled.

  1. The RUREK valve bodies are the only valves made of solid, machined, non-metallic (plastic) materials. All other manufacturers build their valves with Teflon or other liners, or from molded plastic.

These methods of construction are not as reliable as our solid body construction. The thin liners tend to get punctured by bolts, nuts, nails and other debris which are carried by the fluid and accumulate inside the valve's body. Corrosion starts attacking the inside surface of the metal body, a fact which goes unnoticed until the corrosive fluid bursts through the valve's wall. While the inside surface of the RUREK valve may be damaged by the same debris, the valve will continue to operate properly and safely due to its wall thickness (more than 1 7/8" (47.6 mm) in our smallest 1/2" valve). Additionally, liners sometimes become "unglued" and peel off. Molded plastic is an unreliable material because it tends to have hidden cavities and micro-cracks.

Technical Specialties Co. has overcome all these drawbacks and limitations by using the solid, machined body construction.

  2. The valve body has a very simple construction, with only nine (9) parts. Customers may choose to stock as spare parts only five (5) of them: plug, seat, stem, packing set and the 'O' ring seal.
  3. RUREK control valve bodies are compatible with the Fisher Controls actuators and accessories. Many customers use Fisher Controls valves and therefore, already have all the parts which are required for the proper maintenance of the actuators. In addition, the customer's maintenance personnel already know how to maintain and calibrate Fisher Controls equipment, and the operators know how to operate it.
  4. Maintenance of RUREK valves is an easy and quick task. The bodies incorporate a top entry style and have quick change trim which is relatively inexpensive. The trim (plug & seat) can be changed in-line in a few minutes.
  5. RUREK control valves are manufactured and assembled in our manufacturing facilities in Houston, Texas. All the necessary settings and calibration steps including bench setting the actuators are taken.
  6. We have a large stock of complete bodies and parts. While standard delivery time is very reasonable, 4 to 6 weeks ARO, we also offer "supermarket" delivery of 3 to 5 days ARO, for a slightly higher price. Emergency delivery is available as well in most instances.

To summarize, we offer the client control valves with simple but superior bodies, assembled to the most widely used actuators and accessories in the world.
